Bill Lawson
An illustrated Exhibition by Bill Lawson with archive photographs spanning 40 years.

St Kilda Artefacts Exhibition   -  Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum
The collection is unique and must be one of the most important ethno-archaeological collections in Britain if not beyond. It consists of the museum's own collection and those of The National Trust for Scotland (which are on long-term loan to the Museums Service). Some of the more interesting items include snares made of quill and hair for catching seabirds, St Kilda wren eggs collected by William McQueen (a native St Kildan), woollen stockings and tweed, a whalebone scoop, a St Kilda spinning wheel, and a mail boat. There is even the original jolly boat (tender) from SS Dunara Castle (which made regular sailings to St Kilda from the 1870s). There are also many original letters and other archives.

St Kilda: Mapping a Future from the Past - Lionacleit School, Benbecula
Royal Commission on the Ancient and historic Monuments in Scotland
A small pop up exhibition that celebrates the completion of RCAHMS partnership project with the NTS to map the archaeological remains of the St Kilda island group. The exhibition is image based with minimal text, and the introductory text is in both English and Gaelic. Nine of the twelve panels belong to one dramatic image of Hirta, the main island of the archipelago. There is also a panel showing an extract of the survey data draped over an ortho-rectified aerial photograph and a panel that is a montage of cleits and field survey recording.

Launch of St Kilda Stationary @ The Historiography of St Kilda Conference  -
Lionacleit School, Benbecula
Commemorative stationery which can be posted and date-stamped from St Kilda will be on sale next month at a conference organised by the Islands Book Trust to mark the 80th anniversary of the evacuation.
The specially designed envelopes and headed notepaper showing eight scenes from St Kilda are a poignant reminder of the fateful day on August 29, 1930 when the remaining population were removed to the mainland.
The artwork has been carried out by Maureen Kerr, whose beautiful colour drawings will be featured in an exhibition at Claddach Kirkibost in North Uist throughout August 2010.
The limited edition of envelopes and headed notepaper will be available to those attending a four-day international conference from August 11 - 14 at Lionacleit School, Benbecula on 'The Historiography of St Kilda' organised by the Islands Book Trust, which will examine how the island has been portrayed in literature over the centuries.
